No one knew it was coming, no one knew it would happen the way it did -- but what everyone did realize... was that by the time it had hit, it was already too late. At first Umbrella sought out that only the Residents Of Raccoon City would have to pay for the mistakes of the global corporate entity that was Umbrella; a company which secretly invested into biological and chemical weapons and agents. More in specifically, the T-virus... a biological chemical weapon able to kill millions and reanimate them as undead corpses with basic, animalistic behavior and a taste for fresh flesh and blood.
Yet what they didn't know, was that even after the initial outbreak had ceased it's hold on Raccoon City -- the T-virus would spread, leaking out of Raccoon City and infecting small town after town... only to work its way into larger cities, and eventually across continents. It was considered the first world-wide pandemic in decades -- though like most pandemics, the rampant t-virus eventually died out... however the creatures it created in the process didn't. There were survivors, but the body count was higher... and sooner, or later -- the world was infected with 6 billion undead.
Those who did survive became nomads; traveling where ever they need to go for refugee and safety, if only for a short while. Likewise, the last few survivors of Umbrella Corporation, most Paramilitary units, prepare for their final mission -- a trip back to ground zero, the place where it all started -- looking for some form of a vaccine or cure. If they can't reverse the effects of the t-virus; maybe they can make a vaccine allowing the survivors to become immune to it. Whatever the case, anything is always better than nothing.
So what caused Umbrella Corporation to change? Why did Umbrella executives come to help survivors as opposed to kill them off? Simple, they finally came to realize that they couldn't survive forever locked up in their North American Research Facility, nor could those in any other continental Umbrella Research Facility; and so those still present in these continental facilities find themselves for once in their lives.. attempting to achieve the greater good, not the size of their wallets. Money meant nothing anymore; currency had come to a complete stop.
Yet so the broadcast was made -- Umbrella called out to all survivors, using their own subterranean communications stations scattered across the globe to launch a frequency on all AM and FM radio appliances to any who might be listening. They offer the promises of a cure, or an immunity to the virus... at the price of asking for help in assisting the Umbrella corporation in their desperate mission to find it. To travel to the place where it all started, to ground zero -- Raccoon City.
They stated Umbrella would be supplying all rations and equipment needed... food, water, fuel, weapons, and ammo -- during weekly intervals with frequent drop-offs throughout Raccoon City in massive freight containers full of whatever they needed. Making it more than enough to supply those who would dwell in the city looking for a cure. However beyond that small convieniance... everyone is on their own.
Some have banned together, befriending one another as they look for the same cause. All the while as others work alone, quietly searching for answers. But in the end... everyone fights for their right to live, to call them self a survivor -- in a city full of untold less-than-human creatures that only exist to infect everything they come into contact with.
Stakes are high, and tensions grow -- but the hope of a cure is enough to keep them going. In a world where the stinking dead have come to dance with the lifeless living... where a single viral particle has changed the definition of evil to fit with the times; a place where evil has evolved...
