Happy b-day to Jill Valentine, too! (Feb 14th, 1975) Now isn't that original.... Actually, it's true. The time line in the back of one of the REmake guides says it.

Happy b-day to Jill Valentine, too! (Feb 14th, 1975) Also Lara Croft's birthday too incidentally.. year is variable 1968 if you follow TR1-6 timelines.. and I dunno perhaps 1976/1977 if you follow the new ones.

Also Lara Croft's birthday too incidentally.. year is variable 1968 if you follow TR1-6 timelines.. and I dunno perhaps 1976/1977 if you follow the new ones. I know she in her late 20s/early 30s at the time of the first game. Of course, her past has been retconned more times than I can count, though, as the game manual for TR1 said she was 21, I think, when her plane crashed in the Andes and she was the only survivor, then when Legend came out, it was changed to 12 years old and crashed in Nepal and was the only survivor with her mother.

^ You are exactly correct. That said - as its so ish at the moment as to how old she is I'm going by the age of her voice actress Keeley Hawes - and she is born in 1976 so.. sounds about right if you ask me. There was some mention of her being 19/20 in Anniversary so that would fit with my idea that she is 33/34 now... as Anniversary was set in 1996. But yes originally in TR1 she was about 28 I believe..which would place her at...42 now....if you follow the old Core Design dates. I think the new biography has no birth year which makes more sense really...

I think the new biography has no birth year which makes more sense really... Yeah, I think so, too. It would be kind of funny for people to be playing a new TR game in 20 years, then look at the birth date and realize that even though she looks 25, she's actually in her 50s.

^ Exactly right. But we still there are these hardcore Core Design fans who believe Lara has been dead since the final Core Design game - but yet tell me "Well Core said her birthday is 1968 so she is 42 now". Ha.. she looks mid 30's at the oldest and her voice actress is 33. Seriously now - get over the fact Core got kicked off TR and move on.
I agree though it would be rather silly - especially as they have dated the games - Anniversary states 1996 at the beginning and her high tech gadgets in the newer ones date it to reasonably modern times. So its not like they can backtrack and maintain it is the 1970's or whatever.

Well, in all honesty, I think with Lara's fitness regime, she could keep relatively vibrant into her 40s, and possibly even remain fairly physically-capable into her 50s. But that's just speculation.
But, in the end, Lara Croft is just one of those timeless characters. Look at the Dead or Alive girls; after five games, all of them are still the same age as they were in the first game.

^ Well yes. I do agree with that. I think some Eidos dude stated she was 3 years younger than James Bond - and he is ageless AFAIK. Unless they mean Daniel Craig who is 40 so she would be 37 but whatever...
I kinda think its easier in general to have ageless characters - especially if you plan to make the series long running - like for example there is only so long that RE can keep the same characters now. Granted they did themselves a favour in setting some of the games back in 1998 and I'm not sure when RE5 is set I think at least 2006?? But sooner or later the characters will have to be left behind/changed I reckon.

RE1 was set two years in the future when it was released.
