I personally am Agnostic and tend to stay that way or eventually become an Atheist. I don't believe at all in the Christian 'God' and hate people who try to shove their beliefs down others throats. And I'm talking only Christians, but atheists who do that too. F******g pisses me off.
Well, what is everyone else?

Well I was raised as a good ole Southern Baptist. As I grew up my views became less stringent. I believe in God and that Jesus died for my sins. However, I'm also not the type of person who forces my beliefs on another. I believe each and every person is entitled to believe as they wish.
I feel that if your beliefs harm none, then so be it. Sort of like the Wicca credo, "Do as thou will, harm ye none." To each his own. I'm not concieted enough to believe that my ways and beliefs are the only ones out there. I respect other's beliefs. Even when I don't agree with them, they are after all called opinions for a reason.

Seems like I saw mention of a rule prohibiting religious and political discussions, but whatever.
My view is simply this: If you believe in a "God", he/she is real. If you don't believe, he/she is not real. Simple as that.

Well, as long as we keep things civil, I'm sure it won't be a big deal.
It's just that discussions like this can easily become flame wars when they're joined by individuals who are fanatically-devoted to one belief and refuse to respect others' beliefs.
I'm pretty much estranged from modern religions, especially with so many labeling certain wars nowadays as "Christians vs Islamics".
Neo-paganisim, FTW!

I don't remember seeing that rule either, but like you see no problem with the discussion as long as it stays calm. I'm not too much for the organized religions either Spartan. They seem to me to be more about being seen and being right than worshipping God. I believe that it should be a personal thing and there is no no need to get dressed to the hilt and go to a church to worship. I believe that discussions with God to be a personal matter, as is worship for the most part and are best done in private.

for me It's not whether you were right or wrong. it is about how much you believe in something. I didn't take it as meaning the same as what Spartan said, and I agree it isn't your view on religion, but more of a statement on morality. While closely intertwined they do mean different things.

yes it does. both of them are talking about believing in something. but the different is that i talked about the strength of your believing and spartan talked about what you believe in.

Hmm.. Im not religious in any way - mainly because my parents aren't.. and I've not being brought up to believe in anything religious. When my fathers mother was alive my sister and I went to church a little - but only because she was Catholic. My father has never believed in the Catholic religion and it is his belief that religion causes a lot of problems for people - due to fanatical groups fighting each other. I would perhaps agree with my father here - personally I see religion as being very secretive especially the Catholic religion I think it is the Catholic religion anyhow - please correct me if Im wrong) in the Vatican for example - hiding various things away inside the city and so on. Well so my parents said after they visited Rome so... Also a major problem with "some" religion for me is the anti-gay sentiment that some of them have.. mainly because I have a lot of friends who are gay and it is upsetting to me that they are treated badly by some sectors of society for being who they are.Of course this is not EVERY2 religious person who behaves that way but some I have come across whilst out with my friends have been downright nasty to them so.. However.. although I am not religious - I dont think it would be respectful of me to stop others talking about religion or believing in it. Usually I simply say Im not religious , explain why and the discussion moves on! Each to their own I say.
I am actually a little concerned my post might inflame some ill advised discussion so if it does feel free to delete it. I apologise in advance for if that happens. I tried to stay neutral whilst putting across my viewpoint.
